About The Forest School

I just moved to Jemison from Vestavia and felt a strong guidance from a few friends and parents to start this school.

After getting my masters degree and teaching for 20 years, homeschooling for 5, I learned a lot about how to accelerate learning and how to make it fun. Teaching children how to not only read well, but love to read, love themselves, and write/publish stories is my favorite thing to do. Just look at is as small group tutoring within a camp like setting. Special needs children are welcome. I will have a wonderful teacher to help encourage all to work together.

Instead of using a curriculum for simulated learning, we actually “do” the activities chosen by the students. For example, instead of measuring the sides of an angle on paper, we measure the actual wall for the actual structure. No “simulated” or pretend learning is better than the real life learning.

Come join one day or 3 days. We only have 2 days available left since we have had so many interested! Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday at this point is available for a day full of tutoring, self esteem skills and just plain camp like fun. You will not believe the gains your child will make.

Even feel free to just drop by and join your child if you like. Don’t forgot to send the books in your already chosen curriculum or I have many on hand as well.

The cost is only $50.00 from 10 to 3. If your child is school age, then its just for you.

I just wanted to add my two cents for anyone considering this for their children. My daughter has been tutored privately by Ann for over a year now. When the Forest School option became available, we jumped on it. Bobbi attended a class and LOVED it. It was everything rolled in to one. Outdoor time (away from screens), personalized tutoring in her school lessons, some healthy socialization and a really positive, fun environment. Ann seems to have endless patience for children and brings out the best in them and it just makes their confidence shine.
